<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><rss version="2.0"> <channel> <title>CB River Valley</title> <link>http://www.cbrivervalley.com/default.cfm/page/blog/blogid/cadbc780-d5d1-d378-4ff15699a9637597/categoryname/Community Involvement/title/CB River Valley.htm</link> <description></description><item> <title>Coldwell Banker River Valley supports area Boys & Girls Clubs</title> <description><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 10pt"><span style="line-height: 115%; ont-size: 12pt"><img alt="" style="width: 323px; height: 191px" src="http://content-1.realistiq.net/CustomerContent-1/IQ_CB_River_Valley/Images/Custom/6083853340/image/Clubs.jpg" /><br /><br />Coldwell Banker River Valley, REALTORS recently donated $770 to area Boys &amp;&nbsp;Girls Clubs as part of it's ongoing 'Matching Program'.&nbsp; For every property sold, each Coldwell Banker River Valley, REALTORS&nbsp;office makes a donation to the local Boys &amp; Girls Club(s).&nbsp;In addition, Coldwell Banker River Valley sales associates have the option of matching the company contribution.</span></div><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 10pt"><span style="line-height: 115%; ont-size: 12pt">Thanks to the success and generosity of our Sales Associates, thousands of dollars have been donated to area Boys &amp; Girls Clubs as a result of this program.<br /><br />Below please find a story from one of our partner Clubs illustrating why we support these fine organizations and how they serve the children of our communities......<br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center; margin: 0in 0in 10pt" align="center"><span style="line-height: 115%; ont-size: 12pt"><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="color: blue; font-size: 10pt"><br /><br />Mike's Moments<br />(This is where</span></div></span><span style="line-height: 115%; ont-size: 12pt"><span style="color: blue; font-size: 10pt">&nbsp;BGCGL Executive Director, Mike Desmond, gets a chance to share some of his favorite Club stories)...</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center; margin: 0in 0in 10pt" align="center"><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;<span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">*Jane&nbsp;and&nbsp;*Amanda come to the Club almost every day...or at least they used to. When I first met them a year ago,&nbsp;Jane was quite a source of great irritation to everyone at the Club. She was extremely disrespectful to both members</span>&nbsp;<span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">and staff. Immediately, I wanted to know more about both of them so I asked a lot of questions.&nbsp;Jane and&nbsp;Amanda live in a low income housing neighborhood. Both parents are alcoholics and have serious health problems and I would suspect not able to offer the type of emotional support each of these girls deserve and need. That would explain their obvious attachment and affection to our staff. </span></div><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">Over the past year I have taken the time to get to know each of them better. They now greet me with huge smiles. With a</span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">&nbsp;little </span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">positive attention and a little extra personal care from our staff,&nbsp;Jane and Amanda have blossomed. The Club had become their safe haven, their source of unconditional love in their lives. They had become positive leaders at the Club....that is until a couple of months ago when an ambulance pulled up...again... to their home. That began the painful process of&nbsp;Jane and</span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">&nbsp;Amanda</span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt"> being removed from their home and placed into foster care. We didn't see much of&nbsp;Jane and&nbsp;Amanda after that, with the exception of an occasional visit to the Club for the day. We missed them. Everyone at the Club missed them and always welcomed them back with open arms.</span></div><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left; margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">Just last week,&nbsp;Jane and Amanda's father passed away.</span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">&nbsp;Do </span><span style="color: black; font-size: 10pt">you know where they wanted to spend this dreadful day? Yes, at the Boys &amp; Girls Club.
